Personally led technical consultancy

Technical advice for complex problems and difficult decisions

One senior adviser across cost, security, architecture, systems, software, people, AI and search visibility. I am most useful when no standard service quite fits.

Daniel McClure Fisher CISSP · MCIIS · Cyber Advisor (Cyber Essentials)
Founder, Dead Simple Computing

Engagements are contracted through Dead Simple Computing Ltd and delivered within its applicable insurance and governance controls.

Three ways to work together

Start with the shape of the need. The exact scope follows from the problem.

Project

Technical consultancy

Investigation, design and decision support across technology cost, security, architecture, systems, teams, commercial scrutiny, AI, automation and search visibility.

Startup

Technical advice for startups

Practical help with architecture, early teams, AI, security, technical decisions and investor readiness. For selected startups, a cash, equity or blended commercial arrangement may be considered within the DSC services agreement.

How startup engagements work

Active cyber incident?

Use the Daniel-led incident intake route for its published line coverage and strict service boundary. The ordinary form is not an urgent channel; DSC remains the provider and owner of the generic company incident-response service.

Where I am most useful

The common factor is not a particular technology. It is a consequential problem without a clear owner or reliable answer.

  • 01

The issue crosses infrastructure, security, software, suppliers and staff, and nobody has the complete picture.

  • 02

A recurring failure, excessive cost or stalled programme has survived the normal support and escalation routes.

  • 03

A board, owner, investor or founder needs evidence before a decision that will be expensive or difficult to reverse.

  • 04

An incident, dispute, deal or sensitive change needs a small, clearly controlled circle of communication.

How I work

Broad capability does not mean an open-ended engagement. The question, authority and outcome are made explicit.

  1. 01

    Establish the facts

Separate what is known from what is assumed, identify the constraint that matters and make the decision owner clear.

  2. 02

    Set the remit

Agree the scope, access, decision rights, reporting line, confidentiality requirements and any specialist support.

  3. 03

    Carry it through

Investigate, advise or lead the agreed work, record the decisions and leave a usable handover rather than unexplained recommendations.

Personally led, contracted through DSC

I founded Dead Simple Computing in 2018 and remain directly involved. This site is the distinct route to engagements I scope, lead and substantially deliver myself. DSC contracts and invoices the work, and it is delivered within DSC's applicable insurance and governance controls.

Generic IT and security audits, company incident response, technology due diligence, managed IT and formal certification remain DSC company services. This site is focused on Daniel-led specialist-generalist consultancy, startup advice and fractional CTO or vCISO remits.

Each engagement is separately scoped. Fees reflect direct senior involvement, complexity, discretion, limited capacity and the bespoke responsibility agreed for the work.

Read about my background, credentials and how discretion is handled.

Bring me the problem

Give me the short version: what is happening, what outcome or decision you need, and why the usual route has not resolved it. Do not send credentials, incident evidence or other sensitive material until we have agreed a suitable channel.

Routine calls: 0118 359 2225.

Active incident? Use the separate incident route. The ordinary enquiry form and the routine details above are not urgent channels.
