Background
About Daniel McClure Fisher
I am a technical adviser based in Reading. I am usually brought in when an issue crosses systems, security, suppliers and management and no single team owns the whole problem. I personally lead this work through Dead Simple Computing Ltd.
A specialist generalist
My range is deliberate. I work across infrastructure, networks, security, software, automation, architecture, technical operations, suppliers, cost and the people responsible for them. That makes me useful where a narrow specialist can answer only one part of the question.
I can go into technical detail, but the work is not complete until the organisation can make and carry out a decision. Depending on the situation, that may mean a focused investigation, a second opinion, a design, a difficult recovery, continuing leadership or bringing in a narrower specialist with a clearly defined role.
Operating experience
I founded Dead Simple Computing in 2018 and remain directly involved in client and technical work. Building and running a company has made cost, staffing, supplier performance, risk, delivery and customer obligations practical concerns rather than abstract recommendations.
This website is deliberately broader and more individual than DSC's company-service catalogue. It is for problems and leadership roles that benefit from my range and direct involvement. Generic audits, company incident response, technology due diligence, managed services, formal certification and work requiring a standing delivery team remain DSC services or are routed to another appropriate specialist.
How the DSC relationship works
This site is the dedicated route to contact me about work that I scope, lead and substantially deliver myself. Dead Simple Computing Ltd is the contracting and invoicing entity, and accepted work is delivered within its applicable insurance and governance controls.
Before a remit is agreed, I identify any commercial relationship, referral or potential conflict relevant to the decision. Recommendations are evidence-led and are not conditional on buying further implementation from me or DSC. If a different provider or specialist is a better fit, I say so.
Each engagement is separately scoped. Fees reflect direct senior involvement, complexity, discretion, limited capacity and the bespoke responsibility agreed for the work.
Discretion
I handle initial enquiries discreetly and restrict access. The first message should contain only enough information to decide the next step; it should not contain credentials, incident evidence, privileged material or unnecessary personal data. An NDA and any specific storage, communication or access requirements can be agreed before substantive material is shared.
I do not publish a client logo wall or identifiable case studies on this site. That is a deliberate handling choice. It also means the site must earn trust through verifiable credentials, clear boundaries and useful original work rather than borrowed client names.
Credentials
These are the qualifications and professional statuses relevant to the work. Scheme delivery and organisational assurance are distinguished from personal credentials.

Information security certification covering security design, operations and management.
Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security (MCIIS)

Advice is delivered through Dead Simple Computing's NCSC-assured Cyber Advisor service. This does not assure unrelated services such as incident response.

Defence Cyber Certification Assessor, Level 0

How engagements work
- Establish the facts. Define the outcome, separate evidence from assumption and identify the decision owner.
- Set the remit. Record scope, access, authority, reporting, confidentiality and specialist support in the DSC services agreement.
- Carry it through. Investigate, advise or lead the agreed work, record decisions and leave a usable handover.

Discuss whether I am the right fit
Give me the short version of the problem and the outcome you need. I will tell you plainly whether I can help and what the next useful step would be.
